Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The Elliot School of Intl Affairs and School of Media & Public Affairs are absolutely top-notch. Anyone considering a major in political science, history, american studies, or international affairs should have GW on his or her college list. If you're an engineering or math major, GW's program is fine, but you can go to some of the top rated schools in those fields for half the cost (but you won't be able to go to school in DC, the best college town). You simply cannot beat DC's internship and networking opportunities. Lots of people come to DC for a semester to "study abroad." Come to GW and actually LIVE the study abroad life 24/7.People often bemoan the lack of a traditional campus. Indeed, you won't find a fenced-in area or ivy-covered buildings. But personally, that's what I love about GW—you're living in the real world, not some make-believe gated-in lala land. If you can't stand urban environments, this certainly is not the school for you, but this campus is largely centralized and pedestrian-friendly (unlike other urban schools like BU, for example).
