Beyond the increasing cost of education at UMASS, the bureaucracy here is simply atrocious. You will not get through your undergraduate career without some formal crisis, courtesy of UMASS Red Tape, throwing you through a loop. Academics here are mediocre, at best, most students are either indifferent or miserable. There are some gems, however: most faculty I have encountered are sympathetic to the plights of students, but cannot do much to change the system of administrators and politicians who rule the place.
