If the classes are easy, then why is it so difficult to make As? |
Major: Political Science (This Major's Salary over time)
There are a lot of very good Christian organizations on campus, and we're fairly active.Skiffy (The Sci-fi and Fantasy club here) is an amazing social opportunity for geeks. I love it. We also have an anime club which often shares a common member pool with Skiffy. There are also very many other organizations for people with all kinds of interests. The Monroe Scholar program is good. It's based off of high school performance and is permanent. We have our own freshman dorm that most of us live in that year (it's not any nicer than the others, but it's got a good location and cool people). We also get $2000 for a 5-week research project one summer (guaranteed) and $1000 for a 2-week research project the summer after our freshman year (not guaranteed; only a certain number get this). In all other respects, we get the same education as the rest of the students. The town is boring, but Colonial Williamsburg is fun for a short while.Campus is absolutely beautiful! We have huge trees, a humid but otherwise nice climate, a beautiful lake, and a well-designed campus. The housing situation is ok. A lot of sophomores get screwed in the lottery, but that should get better over the next several years as we are building more housing facilities.Classes are, as I expected, rather easy. Unfortunately, I haven't done much actual thinking as a freshman here. It's mostly just memorization compared to my private high school (Trinity School at Meadow View). Still, a very good education, and it should get harder.Grading is very hard. Do not expect to get A's.Overall, I absolutely love William and Mary and would highly recommend it.
