the neuroscience department is incredible. if you're doing sciences, brandeis is a good place to get an education. some people say brandeis churns out doctors, but only about 10% of the people who originally go there meaning to be doctors actually end up being doctors. well, maybe it's a rumor, but 400 freshmen wanted to be doctors and only about 40 ended up getting into med school because the premed curriculum was pretty hardcore. at first, the student body is overwhelmingly homogeneous, but slowly you come to realize that only about 60% of it is homogeneous (and superrich). i am not jewish and i went there and it was scary but i realized that the jews in that 40% that aren't homogeneous are really cool. there's this chasm of bitterness between the poor smart kids who are getting merit-based scholarships and the superrich kids who are there to get high or married or both.
