UMASS is what you make of it. It is great for non-traditional students. There are many students over 25 and a few over 30 and beyond. I think there are some top notch faculty and resources available (most of the professors in my dept. have PHDs from Harvard, Yale or Princeton). The thing is, because it is a state school and not nearly as competitive in admissions, there are a lot of students there who, honestly, shouldn't be. I guess what I am trying to say is that you can get a good education if you want one…but it takes effort.
