I love Vanderbilt. The people here are great and could not be any more impressive. There is a strong Greek presence on campus, but most of the fraternities and sororities are very open and not exclusive. The only requirement for succeeding here socially is that you try! The student body may seem, at first sight, somewhat arrogant and exclusive, but once you make an effort to get to know people here you realize that 99% of the people here could not be any nicer and want to be your friend; all you have to do is show them that you want to be theirs. Most people that criticize the social scene here aren't willing to get out of their rooms and give it a chance. If they did, they would realize that people here appreciate their contribution the social scene and want them to get involved. I wouldn't go anywhere else if you paid me.
