Case taught me to be proactive, to seek out relationships with professors, and to be diplomatic but persistent. The coursework was challenging, even for someone ranked at the top of her high school class—but that's what I wanted, I didn't want to be handled with kid gloves.

I was lucky to start dating a commuter my second year—someone with a car, who knew the city well, and introduced me to all the great things to do near campus, like Coventry and Shaker Village. I also got involved in campus activities, and created events on campus that kept me engaged. I spent some time playing with moos and muds too, but there's much more to campus life than just hanging out in dorm rooms and taking advantage of the high speed internet connections.

Case's reputation is well respected among graduate schools, and I had my pick of acceptances to PhD programs once I decided to go back to school. Graduate coursework was a breeze, because I knew how to organize my time and stay on top of things, since that's what was expected of the undergrads at Case.
