USF is getting better as Tampa itself becomes more cultured. Both have made great strides going from

podunk redneck hick town/university

to a modern urban city. I posted poor grades about the people on campus from experiences during freshman and sophomore years. The student body were generally hostile to me because I am not white. Even some of the freshman orientation crew were unprovokingly confrontational! However, that was years ago, and it seems that USF and Tampa have been getting an influx of diverse out-of-state students. Combined with developments on campus and in the city, USF is becoming a great metropolitan university.

In terms of the quality of education, I'd say USF is slightly above average. Keep in mind that it is a public state university, so expect "diploma-mill" type education on the average, where everything is straight forward from the textbooks with little or no innovative curriculum.

USF is about to move into the Big East conference, where it will receive some national attention. This is good for students and alumni, because graduates from USF can now apply to companies across the nation without employers asking

University of South Florida? Where is that???

In conclusion, USF is growing strong (in the positive direction of course) and shows no signs of stopping. It is up to intelligent and capable students like you, dear readers, to unlock and realize the full potential that this public metropolitan research university has to offer!
