Major: Communications (This Major's Salary over time)
Indiana Wesleyan U. was a good experience for me in one way: It taught me to be diligent and self-reliant despite the oppressive influence of the faculty and administration of the university.
I recommend this school only to those that are very young in their Christian experience and feel they would benefit more by having a parent-figure rather than a university lead them by the hand through their studies and faith.
I realize my comments are harsh but I have since transferred to a much better Christian school (Anderson University) and know how much better things can be.
Perhaps my biggest frustration was rooted in the fact that I felt like I was attending a different school then the Admissions department had sold me.
I realize most schools are run like a business and Admissions plays the role of PR (presents the best possible picture of the school), but I am a Journalism major and was informed that IWU had a strong journalism program.
That was blatantly misleading.
The Comm department faculty was, at most, incompetent and the school news publication was of lower quality than most high school publications.
The second thing that bothered me the most about the school were the rules. Yes, most Christian universities have many rules that state schools do not, but it seems like such rules should build you up and teach you how to make better decisions. The rules at IWU merely keep students out of trouble for their tenure and do not preparing them for the temptations of the post-graduate world.

I suppose IWU has an OK "spiritual atmosphere," but what is the purpose of attending a Christian college? Enjoying a manufactured "atmosphere" or learning to be the best at your major you can so you can go out and make an impact on the world as a Christian?
Please take your Christian education seriously consider a different college!

questionI recently went on a visit, and I noticed it seems there are a ton of rules- no dancing, chapel 3 times a week, etc. Do these rules hurt your social life? Like you said, I'm worried I wont have real life experience enough if I attend a college with all of these rules!!!
