Major: Philosophy (This Major's Salary over time)
Villanova is (for the most part) a white, upper-middle class, Catholic, blue-blooded, heterosexual, sorority & fraternity run school with half of its students hailing from southern NJ, a quarter from Boston and a quarter from California. It is politically split evenly with half being republican and half democratic. I attended it as a non-Catholic, (albeit white), green-party lesbian and yet I had a great time and fit in just fine. This is because of two factors. The first is that it offers an assortment of clubs and activities for everyone. I was able to be part of (and later run) the feminist coalition, I was in the democratic society and Equestrian Club. Different majors too, have different concentrations of students. I was also a philosophy major and everyone in my class was very open minded and most were also not your typical Nova student. The second factor is that 1 out of every 10 students are like me- throw you for a loop leftists. We are the ones who hang out with the profs and have wine parties, not engage in meaningless sex and throw keggers like most Novans. We are the undercurrent at Nova and that is where I found my place on campus. I grew up in college with a firm sense of who I was NOT and who I never wanted to become. That type of individualism that I gained is priceless to me. I may actually go back there for grad school! Go Might Nova.
