Dartmouth is an amazing place, if not perfect. A more genuine, cooperative, and intelligent community of students would be hard to come by anywhere else. That being said, professors have been a bit below my expectations, though my pre-med track, freshman status, and large class sizes may have much to do with it. Terms move quickly here, and procrastination WILL hurt you in the end (personal experience speaking here). Politically, the college is obviously liberal, but conservatives are tolerated here to a much greater extent than most of the Ivy League. Athletic opportunities also abound for the "outdoorsy" type, from psycho hiking to organic farming; if you're an ardent football fan, however, expect to be disappointed. The drinking culture is strong here, but individuals have been known to have a social live that doesn't revolve around alcohol. Though there have been recent complaints regarding administrative management policies of the dining services, don't let this scare you, as the food is exceptional by college standards.

Despite some of its faults, my experience at Dartmouth has been overwhelmingly positive, and I would urge virtually any accepted student with the financial means—or aid—to attend.
