My experience at Emory was what I made it. I think Emory had a lot to offer in terms of quality classes/faculty/facilities. Coke made sure of that. Atlanta is a great city to be in when you are young. My field Math/Computer Science was new when I graduated. The teachers were reading ahead in the text to learn the material they were going to teach in class. That said, I don't think it really matters because when you get a job, you learn the job. College is where you demonstrate that you can learn difficult stuff - at least for computer science. My son is applying to colleges now. He is following my footsteps into computer science. He isn't applying to Emory because it doesn't show up on any lists of top programs. The course offerings still look sparce which I find disappointing. I did have some very cool teachers in the Math department and they are still there. Then there are the antisocial ones with beards growing out of their shirts and up their necks because they have NEVER shaved. They are still there too.
