I transferred to William and Mary as a second semester sophomore. At first I was surprised by how much more challenging the coursework was compared to the university that I was at before that probably had a better reputation. William and Mary definately gave me an intense education. My grades went down significantly, but it didn't keep me from getting into the graduate school that I wanted to go to, so I guess it's all relative. Campus was isolated, but after a while I learned to appreciate it. It was easier to focus that way. I found it a little difficult to make friends at first, but have gotten extremely close to the friends that I did make. The environment is very close knit and everyone seems to know everyone else. There isn't much of a social life here, so if you're not legal and you want to socialize, you should probably join a fraternity or sorority. The Dellys are a lot of fun once you turn 21. The dorms tend to be really social and everyone lives there, usually all four years. There are a lot of campus traditions, most of them a lot of fun. I won't lie, the academics at this school will take over your life if you let them. I know a lot of people who spent their saturday nights studying. As long as you can manage your time and take advantage of what's around you, it's a great school.
