Major: Computer Science (This Major's Salary over time)
The academics at Case are great and the price is reasonable. I have not had more fun with my classes anywhere else before (mostly, I think, because I have just discovered what I want to do with my life, and that's always a fun discovery to make.) Otherwise, I would not choose to come here again.Cleveland has one of the most depressing atmospheres in a city than any other that I have experienced. You don't want to wander around campus - it's pretty dangerous. The only neat parts are Little Italy, Coventry, and the Warehouse District, where all of the bars are. Little Italy and Coventry are reasonably close, but besides that, there is nothing around here. A grocery/convenience store just opened up in Coventry, and there is a Giant Eagle within 40 minutes walking distance, but besides that, nothing accessible if you don't have a car. You don't feel like you're in a city at all. The only thing that is within a reasonable walking distance is the convenience store in the Village, which is about the size of a dorm room (which is tiny as is) and overprices everything. I am not involved in a sorority because it's just not something that agrees with me. If that were not the case, however, I might have some sort of social life here. Half of my dorm building scorns anyone who even considers drinking, and most stay in their rooms on the weekends. The BoHo doesn't card, and I think that the only reason why people stay here is because they either don't care that there is nothing to do or they drink themselves stupid so that they forget. There are extracurriculars here, but after my experience with being involved with the drama program and with college council, they're not enough to make me feel as though I'm enjoying myself. I've heard that you just have to get out there in the social scene to try to find something, but even that hasn't worked for me. I don't even demand that much from my social life. I'm a pretty easy-going person, and even I have not had much fun since being here. Case also doesn't have a school atmosphere. No one here has school spirit or school unity. Everyone is out for themselves, which gives the place a business-like atmosphere. Even though the faculty are really great with personal communication, you have to fight for recognition in anything else. I feel as though I am just living in a building near which I happen to have some classes. Also, if you are genuinely happy to be here, you're one of the few. The most depressing part about Case is that it doesn't seem like anyone is glad to be here. Upon reflection, that's a scary thought.
