This is really good advice—definitely don't fall behind, and definitely get involved in research. Otherwise you really will be a number in the umich factory. |
These study groups are a big joke. They are there as a cheaper option to competent teachers. After all, you don't have to pay students. Its not like its that hard to form a study group, so comparing it to other schools is silly. But the teachers can't teach worth a damn! just consider senile old professor ashe in orgo. He came in without a plan and rambled an hour and a half straight about what his weekend was like. Seriously. |
Major: PreMed and Medical (This Major's Salary over time)
Being pre-med at michigan was tough. The students (esp. in the sciences) are ultra competitive because they know what it at stake (med school for most.) Everyone and their brother is a pre-med at umich and it is tough adjusting to the courseload straight out of highschool (many drop premed). I would still recommend being a pre-med here because the pre-med advisors really know what they're talking about and care about the students.
