College is essentially what you make of it. If I personally could go back and make a different choice, I would choose to go to a more established school, like UVM or Middlebury. I chose Plymouth mainly because I was a classic underachiever in high school, and I had missed the deadlines for the more academically respected schools. I feel like many of the professors here either a) came here out of default (fallback plan), or b) are longtime profs who are too established here to move somewhere else. The faculty here is, in my opinion, hit and miss. We do have some exceptionally intelligent, standout professors, but we also have a good percentage of downright lackeys.

There are few ambitious students here…at least what I would consider to be ambitious. Most students are local new englanders who came here because it was the next logical step after high school (to quote the other reviewer) and have a particular affinity for living a debaucherous, sloppy lifestyle based mainly on drinking, fornicating, and fighting. Granted, that is part of any college, but excessive drinking is really the 'bread and butter' of a typical Plymouth kid.

So, in short, if you have high ambitions in the sciences like medical school or getting into a solid grad progam, it would behoove you to seriously consider another school. There have been plymouth alum who have gone on to become doctors and other respected professionals, but these are relatively rare. From what I know meteorology is pretty solid, and the business department as well.
