I thought it was going to be a full time hard core learning experience. 21 months of eating, sleeping, breathing (and smoking) film. I'm in my 6th month and I'm already having some second thoughts. It's true that it is a 24 hour school, but any given student will have a lot of downtime, and that's not necessarily a good thing. Having a job is out of the question, as schedules are changing all the time. As far as a social life, I'd say it's one of the worst schools in the country: even if friends are up for hanging out, there's no campus housing. In fact, you'll probably be on opposite sleep cycles. It's very dog eat dog, very little class togetherness- everyone's here to take what they can and get out. It's a media tech school whereas most other places with similar degrees are more theory oriented. It can be a big shocker. Will I be here in another 6 months? Honestly, I don't know. As far as film is concerned, this place is the real deal: It's a full blown film school, one of the best in the country. The problem is the people, the schedule and the price. It's a wonderful place to learn, but a horrendous place to live—That pretty much sums it up.
