I'm sure you're heard it a million times, but Case really is not the place to come for humanities. For the most part, going to class is actually detrimental because all the teachers do is read off the powerpoint that they put online, so I could be spending that time keeping up with the relentless amount of work. Sure, they give you a ton of money, but I feel like by staying here, I am compromising my happiness. Not only are my classes pointless and the workload relentless (which is to be expected), but there is absolutely nothing to do to blow off steam if you don't party. Because the surrounding areas are dangerous and inaccessible, Case students spend most of their time on campus. There's much more to do if you have a car and the $700 to drop on parking, but if you don't, expect to spend a lot of time on campus where there's nothing to do on the weekends. I think the fact that the counseling center has been practically booked for the past 2 months is a testament to how unhappy the students are here.

The reason that I am at Case is because they offered me a huge scholarship. If you ask around, you'll find that most of the people are here for the same reason, and because they didn't get into their top choice school. The school emits a depressing negative vibe that just brings the entire campus's energy level down. I am transferring after this semester, and I am more than excited to get the hell out of here.

As far as advice is concerned, only apply to the schools that you know you would go to. Forget about where your parents want you to go; I made that mistake. If money is your number one concern and you want to major in science/engineering/premed, then apply to Case. The school is great for those things, and you're guaranteed to get a good education. But if you want to do something in the humanities or social sciences, I would strongly advise you to consider other schools. It is not worth tens of thousands of dollars to teach yourself when you could be doing it for the cost of your textbooks.
