As a graduate out of Umass Dartmouth i had a pretty good time there. As most said its what you make of it, and that's really true. You have to make an effort to go and enjoy life on campus. Most people are middle working class, so there characteristics are similar, and from all the Redsox riots you'd notice that most are from Massachusetts. One thing i didn't like about the people there is that they are very destructive, moment you walked in the hallways people broke things because of there drunk states. large damage bills would be sent to everybody in the building because of one or two people every time.

The education i had was awesome. I was an art student (graphic designer major) and the arts department is a hidden gem. The education you receive and the work students end up developing is really good. The teachers in the department are so opened minded and accepting to all styles of work. there very lenient and always are there for help. You really become good friends with the teachers. I'd say that the best work developed in the department is similar to art only schools. The facilites within the department or reasonable, nothing out of this world but just right to get the things you need accomplished. However the buildings are a bit beat up and need maintenance work.

Housing SUCKS! the housing department people have like a click and its very corrupt when it comes to right ups and housing selection. the whole housing selection process was terrible, never got better. the housing contract is like a trap. theres no way out of damage fees, and selecting a place you want to live is the hardest thing. The school was a commuter school, I'd suggest to do that. They have new nice dorms but for upper classmen and students damage them anyways so…

Athletic department is really good, the years that i was there our football team won championships, the basketball team reached NCAA nationals top ranking almost winning it. our hockey team one nationals, the cheerleading team one div 3 and 2 nationals 4 times(?). We had a track guy Jonathan Garcia who won 3 times national champion in the hurdles. Really good swim team. The facilites depending on the sport are really good and some ok.The faculty just brought in a new athletics director and he seems to be taking the athletics department to the right direction.

All in all i rate umass dartmouth 100% being good 1% being terrible. 75%
