I love it here. I transferred from a private school in Westchester (I'm from Rochetser, mind you) despite a nice scholarship + honors program because it was too far from home and too easy.

I've definitely found the coursework here to be MUCH more challenging, something I both enjoy and dislike (at times). It can get stressful (as a Comp Sci major), but so far all my professors have been incredibly helpful and nice to talk to. They've been great.

My non-CS courses have been good, too. All in all, the academics here are great for such a low price of admission. The school's just been bumped up in the US News rankings, too, from 82nd nationally to 77th, and I think 34th public school nationwide. Not bad.

If you're considering coming here but worried about it being "just a SUNY", don't let that stop you. The people here are quite good in their fields, the students are friendly, there's stuff to do on campus (soccer is big here, plus basketball… and artsy stuff too!), and I know I made the right decision to come here. I wish I had come here in the first place.
