I believe NIU is a good school, depending on what you put into it. I am only a freshman and it still feels as if i were in high school. Everybody either goes home on the weekend or goes out and gets drunk. Its one or the other. Weekends are pretty dead, during the week the campus is nice as long as the weather is nice. As far as academics, I believe Northern is a great school for the price that is being paid. The teachers are very friendly, and they are there to help. When it comes to athletics, Northern doesnt do quite well. The mens basketball team is horrible and barley nobody goes to the games. As for football the games are decent. Overall, I think Northern is an alright school. If I had the chance to leave, I would just because its so deserted in Dekalb.
