I went to Assumption College and while I was there I liked it a lot. I found most of the students to be approachable and freindly but there were a lot of cliques (as other reviews mentioned). I did not join any clubs or sports so that may have made it a little harder for me to make a lot of friends or fit into a clique. Despite that there were a lot of cliques, people were friendly and I did find a small group of friends. The cliques are really the only downside. Since there does seem to be a lot of cliques I felt that there was not as much partying as I would have liked. When I visited friends at other schools we could just walk around and find parties to go to and even if we didn't really know the people we still felt welcomed there. It wasn't really like that when I went to Assumption. Small groups of friends had parties, but if you weren't in that group of friends you wouldn't feel welcomed. My friends at Assumption didn't really party much so that may be why I felt like I wanted more parties. I know there were parties but I didn't know those kids very well so I didn't feel welcomed. There are always bars in Worcester to go to though (even when I was underage), so it wasn't like I couldn't find that kind of thing at all. Sometimes you just feel like partying on campus though.

I really liked the classes and felt that I learned a lot. The professors were very nice, caring, and helpful. I was able to receive a lot of one on one attention when needed and the faculty seemed like they really cared about the students as individuals.

Yes, the sports are not good at all (as other people reported). Personally, I am not into sports so I was happy that everyone didn't go to the football games every weekend and stuff like that.

The dorms were okay. The underclassman dorms were small and not that great, but no worse then other dorms I saw at other schools. In fact, my dorm was often better than many of my other friends' dorms at other schools (such as UMass Amherst). When I was there they were building new dorms and they were very nice but they may not seem as spectacular now since they are not new anymore (I graduated in 2002).

I read other reviews that complained about transportation but I don't think Assumption is much different from other colleges in that respect (unless you go to school in the middle of a big city like Boston), even better in some ways. Some of my friends went to schools where Freshmen couldn't even have cars or where underclassmen parking was VERY far away. When I was there Assumption wasn't like that, but they have more students now so that may be different now. Even so, it's really not that different from many other schools in that respect.

It wasn't perfect (I would have liked less cliques and more parties) but from what I've heard from all my friends from all different colleges, there are always things you'll like and dislike about any school. Overall, I had a really wonderful experience at Assumption and if I had to do it all over again I would have still chosen to go to Assumption.
