I attended Greensboro College for the first half of my freshman year in 2007 majoring in Physical Therapy. On the tours everything is told to you as an great college to attend obviously. But after attending Greensboro College for just one semester, I had enough. I played football in the fall. (which was terrible the football teams record is 2-8 every year.) Now to the dorms, the dorms are absolutely repulsive. I lived in West Hall and let me tell you I barely was able to live there. I was constantly sick along with everyone else, due to the mold growing in the air conditioning units and in the walls and bathrooms. Dirt and dust is nothing, their are bugs that would crawl out of my sink, window, and under the heating unit. The showers are small and every time a toilet is flushed, you are severely burned. There is constantly shit thrown all over the stairwells and bathrooms, making it impossible to walk down in the hallways without stepping in throw-up or random rotten food. The weekends get worse, because no janitor is there to clean anything. At night trying to sleep is nearly impossible for many reasons. It was either kids blasting music all night or drunken idiots running around on a Tuesday. The RA's do nothing about it. No one gets written up for anything. Peoples dorms were broken into and assaulted and Greensboro College Security did nothing. The security is a bunch of 70 year old men who are making a few extra bucks on the side by doing nothing. You can't control your room temperature, so your room is either burning hot or freezing cold. Crime is a constant problem on campus and it is not safe to walk around at night. A friend of mine was robbed and security again did nothing. The city is also not very nice, and there are only 3 main bars people go to during the week. The weekends are horrible because everyone goes home, so I luckily only lived an hour away and went home. The cafeteria food is another issue. It's open for 2 hours 3 times a day. The weekend food isn't sanitary to eat. The food is either leftovers or just disgusting animal food. It is not uncommon to find bugs on or in your food, no lie. The staff here is lucky to have a high school degree. The school constantly loses papers and take along time to send anything out. I had to talk to the people that worked at the transfer officer 4 times to send out my transcripts to get out of Greensboro. Everyone is left wondering where the money is going. I can tell you the president takes it and spends it on whatever he likes. He owns a mansion and a brand new BMW. Hill is a little better then west dorms but not by much. Greensboro residence hall is right there with west hall. There is NOTHING to do on the weekends at all. People are very unfriendly at the college. The only alright part is the fact that the classes are small and the teachers are nice. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your freshman year at Greensboro College. Everyone transfers after a year. When they say greensboro is in a city, they are wrong. This is a business district and ghettos surrounding the college. I left to UNC after a semester and I love it. Don't waste your time and money on this hellhole. This place is a rip off and not a real experience of college at all. Listen to my advice and everyone elses because we aren't kidding. This place is a step above going to prison.
