BEFORE YOU CONSIDER ECU, CONSIDER THIS. MOST OF THE TIME WHEN YOU HEAR ABOUT ECU IN THE NEWS, IT'S BECAUSE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENED. I would also like to point out unless you are taking pre-requisites for med school or law school, coming here is useless because MOST OF OUR PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED AT COMMUNITY COLLEGES THROUGOUT THE STATE. They also don't require you to take CLASSES THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR MAJOR AND END UP COSTING YOU A FORTUNE. In speaking of which, as an ECU student, you are required to pass a swimming test to graduate. I don't see the point of being able to swim, this isn't the Navy personally I think it's just a way of the university making money. Greenville isn't the best living choice and isn't the friendliest and definately not the safest city to live in. EAST CAROLINA IS AN OLD SCHOOL AND NEEDS TO BE RENNOVATED. MOST OF OUR BUILDINGS ARE IN BAD SHAPE.(dorms and classrooms). If you don't drive and don't live in or around Greenville, then don't rely on campus transport. The busses take forever getting from and to your stop, and they drop you off at parking lots and failed businesses in the middle of nowhere. Overall it's your choice, but DON'T GET TOO EXCITED IF YOU'VE RECIEVED YOUR ACCEPTANCE LETTER because honestly this school isn't even remotely good. We have an attrocious reputation, and anyone can get into this university. You may not believe that, but If you take a good look at the kind of people that go here you'll see. I, myself did craptastic in high school and barely graduated with a 1.24 or so gpa. IF YOU GOT DENIED FROM THE UNIVERSITY it's not that your not smart enough, or didn't do enough extra cirricular activities, it's that honestly this university is running out of room to cram people in.
