I'm a first year student at Assumption college and I can honestly say this was one year wasted of my life. Not only is the curriculum not fostering my intellectual growth, the campus activity is minimal. Upon arrival I perceived the student body as enthusiastic about the school and school events but after living there for almost a year I have come to find out that 75% of the people I know are only there because Assumption offered them a large scholarship or, hate the school and can't wait to leave. There is minimal support for sports teams (most of them are pretty terrible anyway) and very low if any, attendance to campus events. Also, don't plan on attending Assumption if you hope to find political interest. Student Government elections are a joke and after the presidential election you could hear crickets chirping across campus as everyone had already fallen asleep. The housing is horrible until your senior year (or junior if you are extremely lucky) and campus security is ridiculously strict and will treat you as if you are utterly incompetent. They have now implemented what they call "The Party Patrol" to "crack down on underage drinking" even though parties on campus are usually bad and get broken up 90% of the time. They claim to have non-drinking events for students who are not into the party scene but I can assure you, they are highly false advertised. All in all, if you can absolutely avoid it STAY AWAY! I am counting down the days and hours until I am out of here for good.
