Agree with this review completely. Don't attend expecting a curriculum. It is a self-motivated educational experience that will hone your skills as an "out-of-the-box" designer and architect. I attended in 1987, which at that time the school had just become accredited for the Master degree, there was not a BAC available. If you need a more structured traditional college, this is not the right choice. |
Major: Architecture (This Major's Salary over time)
Taliesin is an amazing program for the motivated self-learner. It's based on an alternative educational philosophy that makes it quite challenging for those who've been raised in a traditional system, but all the more rewarding for those who desire to have a hand in their own education. Don't expect to be force-fed anything, including any dogmatic Wrightian ideas. The school is both empowered and tethered by it's connection to Frank Lloyd Wright, but is not directed at a nostalgic interpretation of times past. If you're thrilled with Wright's work, and also critical… if you know what you want to learn and from whom… if you desire to live and work towards something different than the societal norm… this program might be for you. It isn't for everyone, but contact and visit if you're interested to see if you connect with the spaces, places, ideas and people that make up this incredible community.
