I came to URI from Mass and i thought this was going to be a good school. I was WRONG. It is hard for me to even think of anything postitive about this school, i guess that the quad area looks nice but thats about it. now for all the bad stuff. 1. every dorm here is small, the heaters dont work,and the locks are broken. my entire doorknob feel off in my room during my freshman year and this year the lock is broken, so ive been locked in my room twice and havent been able to get out. 2. the RA's just want to write you up and not help you. 3. there is nothing to do on campus. if you dont have a car or know someone that is willing to drive/ DD for you all the time, you are SCREWED. you will end up sitting in your room by yourself or with some friends playing video games. 4. the school does nothing to create fun activities or events. 5. out of the few people that live on campus, half of them leave on the weekends, so the place becomes a scooby doo ghost town. 5. parking is expensive and they tow people all the time. 6. the dining halls seem like there never open. 7. have fun climbing up the hill in the winter time because uri doesnt plow sidewalks or even use sand or salt to make it easier to walk. 8. all the sports teams blow. the basketball team is all uri has to offer and there not even that good. 9. buildings are literally falling apart, i was walking down the stairs of my dorm freshman year and the entire stair crumbled, no lie. 10. maintenance doesnt seem to exist here. everything is broken and i never see anyone fixing it. 11. you can only have cereal or fruit at the dining halls because everything else will make you sick. 12. teachers dont care about you and make no attempt to help you understand difficult topics. 13. you will not be able to understand your TA's and a lot of teachers speak poor english. 14. everyone here just smokes so if your not into that or if you prefer drinking, dont come here. 15. this campus is DRY and there is never a party on campus. 16. this school is not at all worth going to unless you have a car, have a huge scholarship, and are from rhode island. this list goes on and on, i no im forgetting lots of other things but this is what i can think of at the moment. i am transferring to UMass Amherst for the spring, and just thinking about not going to URI after this semester is the only thing thats keeping me going. hope this helps.
