After reading all these negative reviews of Clark, I thought I needed to do the university some justice and leave a positive one.

Let me start out by saying, YES, I am a first year, and I have only completed a few months at Clark, but it just shows how strong the university is, because after only a few months, I am very supportive and proud of my school.

Academics: Clark is a liberal arts school, requiring every student to complete courses in what we call "perspectives" or different subjects. There are I think 6 perspectives, examples are the Aesthetic Perspective (art) and Formal Analysis (math). Each of our classes is worth 1 credit, you have to have 32 credits to graduate. (I had NO PROBLEM WITH MY INSURANCE, you just have to talk to them and have the school send a transcript saying that you are a full time student) First years are only allowed to take four classes, one of which is usually a seminar. I love two of my classes, am indifferent to one, and hate one. The classes I love are engaging and full of conversation. My professors are very knowledgeable and approachable. The class I feel indifferent towards is a logic class that doesn't really appeal to me, I am only taking it to fulfill a perspective. The class I hate is Economics, I don't like the subject matter or the professor (Don't take Bae).

Residence Halls: It is required that first years and sophmores live on campus. I currently live in Wright Hall (an all Freshman dorm) on the third floor (which is all female). The other two floors of Wright are co-ed. Wright has been a perfectly good place to live, everything is maintained very well and all the students respect it. There has been no major vandalism and when things do get broken, physical plant (the custodians/handy men) always repairs them very quickly. Every floor of Wright has 3 RAs, each are very nice, trustworthy, responsible, and very understanding. Living with all Freshman is a great experience, we all bond over our nervousness and excitement. For upperclassman, there are suite-style apartments on campus, which are newly renovated and gorgeous. When most students are old enough, they move off campus to one of the many sublets in the immediate neighborhood surrounding Clark.

Social Life: YES, CLARK DOES HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE. As a first year, I was intimidated going to parties, but the majority of the upperclassmen are very welcoming of underclassmen to their parties. I have yet to have a weekend where there was absolutely nothing to do. If partying isn't your thing, Clark's clubs are always hosting alternatives: movie nights, dances, camp-outs, etc.

Politics: Clark is VERY liberal. No question. There is a Republican club on campus, but I'm pretty sure it only has about 10 brave members. Clark is a place for accepting everyone.

Categorizing is not something we do here.
Clarkies embrace diversity and are overall very friendly people, who always smile at eachother and hold open doors for eachother.

Safety: Worcester is not that scary. Would I go out into the city by myself? No, but anyone with any common sense wouldn't go into a big city by themselves. Clark's campus is incredibly well lit at night and during the day, it's all college students walking around. I have never felt unsafe with my friends walking around the school. Things do happen outside of campus, but that's expected in a large city of Worcester's size.

Clark has been an extremely welcoming place. In the few short months that I have been a student, I have really come into my own. Clark knows the perfect balance between being protective, and letting it's students experience life and be independent. I am very pleased with my decision to attend Clark, and if I had the option, would not enroll anywhere else.
