I have heard the positives and negatives of this school before attedning but came here with an open mind. Sadly they are all true. There are 3 types of people who go here, the instate kids who go here knowing a good portion of people from high school, the NY/longislanders who tend to be mostly rich, and the NJ kids who come because they didnt get into any of the private schools they applied to so they go here knowing alot of people from where they live. To begin with unless you are instate or have a tremendous scholarship do not come here. This school is not very prestigous and is highly overpriced. You are not getting nearly as much out of your education as you are paying. Some programs are good but most are lacking. Professors are a give and take, you will get some good ones and some bad ones but that is with every school. As for the social life it is terrible. You have to join a fraternity or a sorority to have a social life or else you will be stuck on campus on the weekends doing nothing. Oh and by the way the campus is cracking down on them, every year another fraternity or sororoity loses its charter for hazing so they are low in number. Basketball team is the only thing this school has going for them and they arent even that good. The campus is beautiful but thats about all it has to offer. Any friend you make here from Rhode Island you will not be seeing on the weekends because they all go home because there is nothing here which makes students want to stick around. Im transfering out and going to a real college
