FAU is an interesting college indeed. It is a mix of a small university like UNF and a middle-tier university like USF.

FAU is mainly commuter. A majority of the students come from the Northeast (like Jersey, New York, Mass, etc.) and the rest come from South Florida. You will occasionally see people from other parts of Florida or other states, but it is very uncommon. The people have a shitty attitude at FAU. It is not a very friendly atmosphere compared to FSU, UCF, and other major schools.

It is possible to meet people on campus but parties are very rare in Boca just because cops are always on college students and always looking to break up parties. Events are held at clubs and bars instead but when your not 21 it is very difficult to have those fun crazy nights.

FAU has a hard time trying to support college life-style since apartments near by all have families and elderly people living in them. There is decent housing on campus but it is very overpriced and even off campus you will be spending decent money getting a place.

The instructors range from good and bad but depends on your department. I must warn you if your a Psychology major this school has one of the worst programs for it. The university has good Business related majors, Education programs, biology related majors, but overall the university does not give diversity and attention to all subjects.

Campus Life is really average. The football and basketball games are ok. Students try to show enthusiasm, but it goes so far. Yes there is a new stadium coming to campus next year (which is still under construction and is unknown if it will be opened by next year or not), but that might not be enough to save the school. Being a sunbelt team, FAU is struggling to find it's identity in the college world and it wont be for a long time until the school spirit increases.

FAU is an ok school but not a great one and not one to have an excellent college experience at. If your looking to go to school, go to the gym, go to the library, eat at some random restaurants and meet some average people, then you might find some comfort in FAU.

FAU is very safe, but as a result nothing really goes on. I have even seen on campus events being broken up by the cops (it was a harmless Foam Party) just because too many people were at it. If the university changes its ways, FAU could become a higher tier school but until the day Boca Raton can turn into a college town, it just wont ever be nothing more than a place to get your degree at.

1. UCF is not a major school. It isn't even a Tier 1 school.

2. The Psychology department is excellent at FAU. I don't know what you're smoking.

3. The football stadium will open on time next year. It's not in doubt at all.

4. The Foam Party wasn't "broken up," it just became so large that they had to control who was getting in because it tends to draw in non-FAU crowds as well.
