Grand Valley is an overall great school. While it is often overlooked for not having a brand-name reputation such as U of M or MSU, it is still a school that students should do their research about. The level of difficulty for academics is appropriate for how challenged the student wants to be. Lower level classes and structured learning courses are offered for those needing extra help in an area and the honors college and higher level courses are offered for those seeking challenge. Professors are more than happy to help during office hours or other scheduled appointments. It's been argued that GVSU is not a social school. Which is some-what true if your definition of social is drinking and partying. There are so many organizations and an awesome Greek life that plan fun events every weekend and throughout the week; from comedy shows, game tournaments, to dancing and sports events. And all sports events are FREE to students! It's a matter of putting yourself out there to be social. The food is better than any campus I know of and the dorms are immaculate compared to those of other universities. It is a smaller campus which makes everything within a 10 minute walking distance and it's very convenient. Overall GVSU is an excellent school. It is young, so there is still room for it to grow and the students coming in now are the ones who will make the reputation.
