I lived in Warren Towers; a huge dorm with a population of 10,000 freshman, and I met only a very small percentage. I am a very friendly, social person; I make friends everywhere I go, but there is something cold and impersonal about the entire vibe at BU. I tried to get into a few clubs, but so many people showed up for beginning sessions I could barely fit in the room—not terribly organized and very few spots for the vast number of students. I had a nightmare roommate situation, but the Housing people make it virtually impossible to switch for the entire year. Bad enough to have had to stick it out for a semester—but an entire year? Boston is great but if you're under 21 you can't really enjoy the nightlife and I'm not big on getting drunk as a form of recreation anyway. Coursework is unnecessarily difficult; I studied day and night just to keep my head above water. Some of the faculty is helpful—others can't be bothered when you go and ask questions. After a stellar high school record I barely squeaked by with a 3.0. I hated that there was no campus.

responseBU has 4,400 freshmen…not all live in Warren—crazy that you lived with 10,000 of them.

Didn't you tour BU before choosing it? It's a city school. I loved my time there because of the friends I made. You have to make an effort to get involved. If you can't get into the meeting…email the president of the club to ask for more information.

Your college experience is what you make of it. Boston is one of the best college towns in the country—from the museums and sports teams to the restaurants and the history.
