I had been having on and off thoughts about transferring for the majority of my first year. There wasn't anything in particular that I disliked about this school, I was just wondering why I wasn't completely obsessed and in love with Northeastern like some of my other friends were with their colleges. Don't get me wrong, there were some days that I was incredibly happy about my decision, but those weren't as often as I'd hoped. I think the weather had something to do with it too- I enjoyed Spring semester so much better and completely forgot about transferring by the end of second semester.

I don't know why there are a bunch of negative comments saying how horrible Northeastern is. I can understand that everyone has their own opinion, but I wouldn't go as far to say that NU has a hideous campus and extremely rude people. The campus is by no means ugly, many buildings are new and there's little visible construction. As far as people go, you are giong to find rude people at any college, obviously you should try to find another group of friends to hang out with instead of complaining about it. It all depends on the type of person you are. If you are looking for a huge party school with crazy school spirit, then you're probably not going to find that here. There is plenty of partying, but there are no "frat castles" or tailgate days. If you are ok with that then you'll be just fine. I love that you can go party at any other school in Boston too (because there's a zillion) and you never know what type of people you're going to meet.

I got involved in a bunch of clubs so I wouldn't be bored and sitting in my dorm. Many of the clubs are super friendly and eager for people to join. It's a good way to feel like a person other than just a number and a good way to show your spirit and feel connected as a unit.

To whoever may be on the fence about going to Northeastern, just think about what you want in a school. If you want a life similar to that of a character on the show "Greek" then you probably don't want to go here, but if you're looking for a good environment with a great city at your fingertips and a guaranteed 6 month period of working (as long as you have the minimum GPA that some co-ops require), then you will definitely have a good time here. You will have a good time at any school as long as you make it one.
