Well said. I totally understand and I am trying to make this my last semster at Kent as well. This is sad but the absolute truth. |
Major: History/Histories (art history/etc.) (This Major's Salary over time)
I came to Kent State with much enthusiasm and sincere desire to learn. I wanted to improve my writing skills and make myself more employable. I wanted to grow as a person and learn new things. Most classes I found interesting and I did learn some valuable information. My beef is really not with the professors, but the administration and my fellow students. I view Kent State not as a proud liberal arts school, but a McUniversity, solely dedicated to gaining money from ?tuition bearing units?, otherwise known as students, for many expansion projects. This university loves spending tons of money on buildings but does nothing to help the students? financial concerns. This school sits on millions of trust and endowment money, but does not lift a finger to help struggling students, or refurbishing classroom buildings. I really wish the state of Ohio would investigate a place like Kent State, as I am certain there is a lot of waste, fraud and abuse. Most students I met were simply unmotivated and really are not college material. If you are looking for a challenging curriculum, please don?t waste 40k on this place. They have automated their lower math classes so you get very little math instruction and I believe it is an attempt to keep poor math students in perpetual ?prescriptive? math courses in order to bilk them out of money. This will be my last semester at Kent. I am transferring and taking my money elsewhere. I leave Kent a broken spirited student coping with severe burnout. If you have a choice to attend any other state school in Ohio, I would encourage you to do so. Don?t settle for a school like Kent, that only wants your money; you deserve better. This review does not apply to the regional campuses of Kent. There, you will find a good value versus costs. In fact if you want to see where the real learning occurs at Kent, visit a regional campus. Finally I spoke and sent letters to some members of the Kent State administration regarding my concerns. I was told that the Dean would be notified. Sadly, I have never been contacted by anyone in the administration regarding my concerns. I look forward to my new school.
