Look, analyzing UMass-Amherst is very simple. It was founded as a niche school for young women to become school teachers- in a completely different historical time period. UMAss-Amherst has never really evolved into anything more, and remains one of the least reputable schools in the State. It's in a hicktown Amherst UMass-Amherst is nothing to be proud of and it will always be in the same league as Bridgewater, Westfield, UMass-Boston, and other lowly and relatively irrelevant schools. NO ONE outside the state has ever heard of it.

Look, in this day and age, going to college is expected. That's why UMass-Amherst is still around, someone has to get the students nobody wants…It may seem harsh - but thats the way it is.

responseWow thanks much!
Your kidding right. What planet do you live on? Planet head-in-a-box?
commentUMass has suffered from a milti-decades long drug and alcohol problem that marrs the reputation of the college. That coupled with the dominance of private colleges in Massachusetts and the dearth of state funding puts in in a very precarious position.
commentI would be afraid to send my child there vased on the drugs and violence you read about there.
responsePlease tell me you're not serious? First off, UMass Amherst was founded as an agricultural school (get your facts straight). Secondly, it one of the most respected and hardest public schools to get into in the Commonwealth. It has less than a 20% acceptance rates and some of the best Honors, Business, and Engineering programs in the country. I don't know if you've ever been to campus but it is is a safe. Please get your facts straight before you mislead other people.
commentUS News Rankings which anyone can look up here: show that 67.5% are accepted which indicates it is ridiculously easy to get accepted at ZooMass.
responseNearly 70% accepted sounds like a community college.
commentA good school for a great value! Couldn't be happier! Also, it seems like whomever commented above just went through a thesaurus and found big words. Not that impressive, if you have a problem with the school don't take it out on a message board. I was safe and I got a great education for a good price. There is going to be parties at EVERY college, I don't know why you are picking on UMass.
responseYour an idiot clearly. Your intelligance is "average" for one so u belong at a bad college. And although a party school Umass is a well respected state school. And it was founded as an agricultural school, and has a safe campus. If the campus wasnt safe Amherst would not have been voted the best college school in the country
Also Umass only has a 60% or so acceptance rate because it is a huge school of over 25,000. All huge schools have a high acceptance rate dip shit. For example, Boston University is considered a good school and it has a 60% acceptance because it is huge. UVM also considered a good school accepted 70%. Most of u dip shits commenting on this could get in either of those schools.

  • couldn't
  • * Amherst Ma was voted best college TOWN in america
commentLoved your defense of UMass by misspelling the word "intelligence". You proved your case!
response1. Amherst is not a hick town. It is, in fact, quite wealthy, and it's located in a geographically beautiful area.

    2. UMass was founded as an agricultural college, like MSU and many other state schools.

    3. You get out what you put in. Don't rely on a school to make a name for you- rely on WHAT YOU LEARNED. If you didn't learn shit, that's not the school's fault.
