I have attended FAU from 2005 to 2011, on and off. Although there were new changes (i.e. football stadium and medical school), I was never happy with FAU. Faculty is always rude, speaks to you in a condescending way and pretty much there for the paycheck. For example, I forgot to print my 2-page homework before leaving home. It was due on that day, and with no cash on hand, I thought that it would not be a big deal to ask a faculty member to print it for me. Needless to say, I went from department to department and was refused because it would cost them money. Really? Cost YOU money? You mean the tuition I spent per semester was not enough to cover for 2 sheets of printing paper? Finally, I was directed to the school's library where I was again denied due to the same reason. I had to BEG the receptionist to let me print the homework as the professor will not accept any work late. He finally gave in and helped me out.

Another example is when I called to get more information about graduate admission requirements for a specific program I was interested in. I asked the assistant if there were any advice she could give me to increase my chances of getting into the program (my GPA was .1 less than the minimum requirement). Her strict response was no and with my GPA, I should not even bother spending the time and effort to apply since they will not even consider me if I don't meet that GPA requirement. I also asked her, what about my volunteer work? What about my other achievements? Again, her response was no and all of those "achievements" are for naught.

In general, I do not recall any good professors except one, who was also a lawyer. I had asked professors for recommendation letters and I would get zero response or they would make a comment that they remember me succeeding in their class and then no letter. When I was out of the country, I had to email ALL academic advisors in my major more than THREE TIMES for an override to get into a class until someone responded with directions to the new Student Unlink site.

Almost all students are lazy, snobbish, pampered, and close-minded. I had a group project consisting of 6 members including myself. Only 3 students (myself included) did all the work and presentation. 2 of them did not even show up for presentation. One of them was dumb enough to add me on facebook and then post a picture of herself at the beach while we were in presenting our group project. Good thing the grade relied on student evaluations on each other. Bad thing is, most like that girl probably received a C and passed the course doing absolutely nothing for it because that is how easy the classes are. I had students complain on their first day how "hard" it's going to be just by reviewing the syllabus and that they are going to drop the course afterward.

I have so many more horror stories about this place it's insane. I hate this school with a passion. I am applying for a different school to do my graduate studies. And finally, an Owl for a mascot? 'Nuff said.

responseSo let me get this right - you were irresponsible and forgot to print your homework then put out because you expected OTHER PEOPLE to cover up your mistake? You simply think you're entitled to free printing, exceptions to graduate admissions cutoffs and also professor recommendations. The world doesn't work that way.
responseNot only that you base your evaluation on one or two incidents- you are completely blunt and don't look at the big picture. YES, if you want to get in to GRADUATE SCHOOL there is a GPA MINIMUM you have to meet. this is life, every school would tell you that and it's nothing about the school itself.

Second, really? bringing up the printing issue? WOW. People don't owe you nothing for not having money to print, you should be thankful that they actually let you. Maybe the fact that it took you 6 years to graduate implies that your'e not exactly the brightest bulb out there, and shouldn't apply to graduate school anyways. Students slacking in class? THIS IS COLLEGE! what do you expect? everybody to be hard working?

You are ridiculous, and I'm glad you are getting your graduate degree somewhere else.

I studied in Florida from 2006 to 2012. My experience is quite satisfactory. The faculty is a bit messy but the teaching is really good. I learned a lot in my life apart from studies at this university. Currently, I'm working in australianwritings review writing services.I was placed in this job through campus placements. Now I'm leading a successful life. I personally suggest this university for upcoming students.
