Major: Religion/Religious (This Major's Salary over time)
I would say my DBU experience is neutral. Despite the many positive aspects I experienced, the school's culture in general left me with an overall bitter taste in my mouth. I transferred to DBU in the middle of my Sophomore year from a secular state university almost 6 times the size. I transferred with one purpose in mind which was to major in Biblical Studies and establish a more solid foundation of my Christian faith in order to pursue a ministry related career. My academic experience was fantastic. My professors were (most of the time) intelligent, encouraging, available and challenging, especially my Greek teacher, Dr. Matos. He is and always will be my favorite teacher of all time. I studied doctrine, philosophy of religion, various religions of the world and of course, Greek. I absolutely loved everything I learned, and I am thankful I found a university with this particular major.I was part of the Patriot cheer team as well as a sorority. What I found were a lot of wealthy girls who only cared about dating the right baseball players and owning expensive things. Faith was an accessory they wore. The overall culture on campus is a very strong one, impressing a particular mold on the students. If you don't fit the mold, you will hate DBU. There is a subliminal expectation to be put together at all times. It's all about appearances. The campus looks perfect. The people look perfect. Everyone is a "servant leader." I found this perfection to be a mile wide and half and inch deep. Despite the multiple activities I was involved in, I left with one legitimate friend and sorry regret for the student clones enslaved to the DBU mold.
