Major: Physics (This Major's Salary over time)
The physics department is world-class and the major is demanding. Some don't grade on a curve, and I have been in classes where no one got an A. If you are motivated, you will get the best imaginable education. One benefit of this smaller school is that there is more access to lab research with professors who at larger universities will only take grad students. Another is that the expectation for teaching excellence is a priority. One professor who just joined the faculty from Columbia said UCSC had the most "functional and cooperative faculty" he had ever worked with… he credits the redwoods :))
