DO NOT ATTEND THE UNIVERSITY OF AKRON! The University is too expensive for the quality of education that you receive your better off going to a better school in around the state for the same price if you can. The advisers that you are introduced to on your first day of orientation seem very helpful but it is really a smokescreen, their biggest concern is not helping students graduate on time which should be the focus, they instead put students on five year degree plans and then try to strip you of financial aid or dismiss you from the University for not graduating on time.Dont go getting used to or attached to many of the freshman, by the time your a junior just about everyone you came to school with has gone home or transferred to another University. The party scene at the University has been reduced to mostly bars and a few clubs in downtown Akron that are attended by Akron locals as well as students. The party scene at Akron can also be very dangerous, I saw a fair amount of group fights during my time at Akron. The bar scene at the University does seem promising these day though, that is if your over 21! The classes at the University are easy enough though you might have quite a few students in some of your classes. Most of your intro classes are taught by student teachers who know the information well enough but have no clue as to how to teach. The brightest spot in the black hole of darkness and despair that is the University of Akron is the beauty of the campus. The University uses a bunch of its 30,000 students tuition money to make their campus look as great as possible. On another note the University does have many clubs and sports teams that you can participate in or support. Most of the sports teams here suck for the most part so most of the athletes are just like regular people at Akron. All in all, pick a different schools there are plenty in Ohio that are much better than this one.
