East Carolina was not my first choice of school. However, I want to be a doctor so I thought it could be a goo fit for me since they preach about being a good school for medicine. However, I was wrong. At first I liked ECU, I think in reality I just liked being independent. As the year progressed I realized I was constantly thinking about being somewhere else. The dorm life here is absolutely awful. The classrooms are not nice at all, or updated. The people here are not the best… it is a very not-caring atmosphere. I understand that people are here just to get by and party, but it shouldn't be 75 percent of the entire student body. Not to mention 25 percent of the student body has an STD. I can see why, because you can not have a stable relationship here… since nobody seems to care about anything productive and just wants to party all of the time cheating is a given. Now I am not saying that everyone here is nasty with an STD or cheats, but it is the majority of students. Also, if you're not involved in a frat/sorority you basically get treated like crap or people won't talk to you. For example, I was having a conversation with a guy and a girl that was in a frat/sorority and we were having a good time until they asked me what sorority I was in. I told them I was not in a sorority and they literally ended the conversation and left me. The teachers here suck, the teachers seem to just be looking for an easy way of teaching. I had better education at my high school. I made straight A's with a 4.0 without even really trying… so it is safe to say that ECU is not going to prepare me for medical school or my career. I am transferring next year, so be careful when you decide on ECU if you really want to move on with your education or career.
