I think coastal has a bad reputation, mainly because of the negative Greek life and how the athletes are treated much better than the average student. The surrounding area has a big drug problem so the campus can be a dangerous place sometimes. Not to mention, the police here love to bust every party and everyone found with alcohol as much as possible.
