The prep-jock culture and the PC-progressive culture would seem to be at odds. How do they co-exist at Amherst? Are they in a sense separate but equal (to coin a phrase), or are they conjoined via some dialectical synthesis into a kind of unified campus culture? I'm trying to understand the vibe of today's New England LACs! |

You're right on the money with this review. It's too bad AC went down this route. |
Thank you for agreeing. They went that route mainly to generate more donations from sports-crazed alumni. |
Major: Geography and Geosciences (This Major's Salary over time)
So disappointed after two years, but I'm stuck here and can't wait to get out. Arrogance, radical liberalism and a palpable fakeness in most people, students and faculty alike, is overwhelming. Intellect is being replaced with athleticism, i.e., jocks. A bastion for spoiled, snooty brats defines this place. I wish I didn't choose to attend. Don't fall for their sales pitch, it's all smoke and mirrors.
