Clemson is a great place to go if you're looking to avoid a big city like school. The people are friendly and there's a decent amount of small restaurants/bars. Many people claim they want to leave because of the people, but usually it's just because their grades are suffering. Clemson is harder than most in state schools, and they just haven't adjusted well. If you give Clemson a chance, you'll see there really is something in these hills
