If you really want to know if the College is right for you, be sure to visit the campus and explore on your own. A tremendous amount of people here apply early decision because (1) it is difficult to be accepted and (2) they really want to go here. Therefore, if you don't fall in love with the College when you visit, you might want to consider other options. I only say this because while you are here you will encounter a great many people who claim to be in love with the College (and they aren't lying). If you visit and walk away with a positive feeling, then be sure that you would have happy years here.

Why should you visit? This College is the perfect size; the undergraduate education experience here, in almost any department, rivals that of any other university; the campus is safe, beautiful, and has a unique historical setting; campus housing is above average and plentiful; people are friendly and intelligent; faculty could not be any more accessible; and there are many organizations putting on many events each week.

Who shouldn't visit? (1) People who are looking forward to college primarily so they can drink…it's not that students here don't drink, but it definitely is not the main focus. (2) People who refuse to study even the slightest on weekends…you might get away with it, but it's doubtful. (3) People who need to get straight A's. The facts: the average GPA here *is* around 3.0, and I've been told by many that we are the

last college in this nation without grade inflation
by graudate school admissions members. Approximately about the top 5% of the class will have more than a 3.85 cum. GPA.

Why should you go here? You are a person who wants to have an enjoyable college experience but also wants to be prepared the best academically. Almost 1/2 of our students go on to more education after graduation, so they are a motivated bunch. Additionally, if you want to have a well-rounded undergraduate experience, this is the place. It's not uncommon for a chemistry major to perform in as many musicals as anyone else on campus. It's also not abnormal for a history major to take a biology class for fun. The bottom line: students here are involved, and they are involved regardless of any stereotype that would otherwise apply to them.
