When i first came for my freshman oreintation i was extremely excited to come to the University of Oregon, However, when i first came to the university i was confronted with the horrible reality that there is no social scene here. In fact, the police here bust almost every party or get together students try to throw. The weather sucks here; which also doesn't help to aid the lacking social scene. Its constantly depressing, and im almost 100% positive that any person born and raised in Oregon is an absolute liberal f*cktard. Not only does the social scene suck, but the administration and the way the university decides to run the school is absolutely atrocious. A couple of years ago, the Oregon Attorney State General. Frohnmeier (or however the hell you spell his dumbass) was signed in as university president—ever since then he has tried to change oregon from a typical state school into an ivy league. The focus of the university is to f*ck over students and take your money. The people here are a bunch of portland raised retards that are exlcusive to only their high school friends. I came to this school with the notion that i would have a well balanced academic, social, and atheltic enviroment. I was gravely mistaken; The facilites are nice, and the sports are AMAZING, but these alone have proven to be dwarfed by the severity of unhappiness i feel each time i wake up in this god forsaken place. I can legitmally say that this is the worst time i've ever had in my life and Oregon is solely to blame. I never thought i would live in Oregon as kid, and now that i am an adult living here now; i can assure myself i have no plans of ever returning. THE U OF O SUCKS, it used to be the university you think it is on the tours, but now is has fallen into a realm of stickling faculty f*ckheads that have no regard for student well being; only money. I will be transferring this winter t UCSB where their facilities, programs, social life, weather, and attractiveness of females all superceed those of Oregon. Thanks for wasting 2 years of my life Oregon, and hey F*CK YOU Portland kids… you will never do something productive in your lives

Your review would be more helpful if you made it less biased and generalized. the phrase "u of o sucks" certainly makes you sound real educated. not to mention, not everyone at u of o is from portland. this was very unhelpful.

You think that going to UC Santa Barbara will get you anywhere in life? UCSB is all about the party scene, fake tans, barbie blondes, and kids who run off of mommy and daddy's money. 95% of Portland people are the ideal type of person, and those people are REAL PEOPLE. I'm at USD right now and I absolutely hate it, the people here sicken me, and liberal is NOT a bad thing. So why don't you stop being such an idiot and get out of Oregon, we don't need people like you messing up the atmosphere.

I definitely understand everything you are saying. As I psychology major at U of O I wasted 4 years of my life. The professors were mean, nice, and did not evoke anything intellectually exciting in me. They talk crap about their students, and are unhelpfull. The Portland kids do stay to themselves and do not talk about much (high school, umm). It was a horrible University community to be in as a whole. Only go there if you like stupid arrogant people who probably cheat. I met a lot of them randomly.

I actually didn't like U of O my first quarter here, but I realized that I didn't make much of an effort to branch out. During my second quarter, I became involved in clubs on campus and outdoor pursuits. UCSB is a really nice school but Isla Vista gets old fast and there aren't really any bars near campus. You have to go downtown, which is like a 15 minute drive and the bars there are upscale, expensive, and don't cater to the college crowd. Best of luck at UCSB and I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy your time at UO.

I'm a fourth year student in the architecture department and everything this guy is saying is 0 the truth. The majority of people are from portland and they make little effort to branch out of their high school friendships, most of them plan on returning to portland as soon as they graduate, god forbid they check out the real world. The students and faculty are very arrogant and if you say anything bad about their beloved state (even if your just making a comment) get ready to be attacked. people walk around with "oregon native" stickers too advertise that they were born in this wonderful la la land. It rains all year, the bars are full of arrogant hipters and the girls are nothing to be excited about, many of them don't shave their armpits and look like they fell in pile of random clothes when they got up to get dressed. Worst place in the world thanks for stealing my college experience.

Wow I agree with everything you just said! I went to UO for a year and a quarter. I dropped out cause I couldn't stand being there anymore and now am trying to find another school to go to. You're right about the Portland kids and the faculty. Also kids from southern Oregon were a bunch of strange fuckers. Even a good number of the kids from California were lame.(Maybe they too were just pissed that the school sucked) Party scene blows, weather is shitty, and the people of the area just aren't friendly. Only good thing were the sports and the facilities but that is not what makes a good school. Glad I left. Gay school.

The University of Oregon will always be in the shadow of fine schools such as the University of Washington, USC, UCLA, Stanford…etc etc… the professors at the University of Oregon are backwards and upset becuse no one in the world respects their bad research. The U of O hardly makes the top 500 list of the world's best universities. Then, you have to live in the horrible town of Eugene.

I'm a 4th year student here. If you are out of state, the UO is definitely not worth it. Weather is horrible, and succeeds in crushing even the brightest of spirits. Social life doesn't exist. If you are an Oregon resident, and want to finish out your UG, UO is an excellent choice. Out of state stay away..

Currently a Junior at UO. Holy shit does this school suck. Everyone parades around in Nike gear acting like they love the school but at the end of the day everyone knows they would rather be somewhere else. Eugene Oregon is a boring ass city. Anyone who has lived here understands the strange, strange vibe. Cops here are probably some of the worst in the country and shut down any attempt at a good time. Dont live near a college if you are so damn sensitive to some music playing at 11:30. Soo most people just resort to staying home wasting away their college years. Plenty of cool and fun people. But holy shit fuck Eugene. If you have lived here I share your pain. I had an overall bad expereince here. If you're from California just go to a jc for 2 years then transfer. You will save a lot of money and have a much better time.
