Emory…not sure I would've done it again. I agree with one of the other commenters who stated that Emory students aren't on the whole concerned with learning for the sake of learning. Personally, this is very frustrating. Most of the Emory students aren't interested in intellectual curiousity—most of them are too busy planning for grad school/med school/ law school. That's not always a bad thing. It helps to be pragmatic at times. However, to always use Emory as a stepping stone for bigger and better things gets old really fast. On the whole, Emory is what you make out of it. Yes, classes are hard. But most of the faculty is extremely willing to help you achieve your personal goals. I had a wonderful orgo professor, and I absolutely loved her teaching style and her personality. Emory is an institution that won't hand you anything (unless you happen to be a scholar), and you will have to work for any opportunities you want (e.g. research with faculty). Emory will challenge you, and you will come out of Emory a better thinker. I am just not sure if that's specific to Emory. I am sure any top 20 school could challenge you.

As for social life, mine is pretty nonexistent. If you don't like to party, you will be pretty bored on friday/sat nights. My advice: don't let it bother you.
