My review of this school…I would have to say that my experience here was mediocre at best. To be honest, I didn't want to go here in the firstplace. My father talked me into going here because he thought it had a good reputation. Unfortunately, I caved and decided to go anyway. Now, a college experience IS what you make of it, and depending on how you approach it, it can be the best years of your life, or one big waste of time. However, I DO feel that I wasted my time here. I thought that these feelings were going to go away after freshmen year, but I was wrong. The city of Carbondale looks unappealing(unless you live at Thompson Point). It's full of old, run down houses and it looks like the place needs a makeover. Teachers aren't very helpful either. Even though this place is known as a "party" school, it's a hassle because if you have very few friends, or don't make an effort to go out and look for parties, you're pretty much a sitting duck. I'd rather go to ASU if I wanted to go to a school known for parties. I transferred after my sophmore year, and it was the best decision that I've ever made. Roomates are pretty hard to get along with here, so if you have the money then I would recommend getting a single or even a apartment.
