Major: English (This Major's Salary over time)
I attended this school from 1998-2000 studying professional and technical writing, and found it to be a negative experience. I transfered to Loyola University, Chicago because I felt UALR was teaching stuff which was irrelevant in terms of helping you prepare for the job market. The students knew more about technology than the teachers and the technology we used was no longer relevant in industry. UALR is in a dangerous location, with high crime rate and in fairness, while the teachers are ok, their techniques, resources and course materials are behind the times. It was the best decision I could have made. I am now earning over $100,000 a year, while in contrast, my husband who graduated from UALR in 2010 with an English degree, came away with very few applicable skills and has been unemployed for over a year, despite being armed with a degree. He cannot even use Word or Excel to a degree where he could do admin. Do not waste your time kids.
