Hello. I am going to be a freshman at UNC next year and I plan on persuing a BFA in visual art. I was aware that i was making sacrifices attending UNC as an artist as it was not even comparable to the other art schools I was choosing from ( School of art institute of chicago, carnegie mellon, MICA) but I chose for financial reasons and for the liberal arts education. I visited and talked to the director of the arts program and others and I am aware that the program is small and i was admittedly unimpressed. But is it really that bad? What make you specifically comment on the art program? |
Oh and also I chose UNC as I plan on possibly double majoring in Communications as well as art. That program is better right? |
Major: Philosophy (This Major's Salary over time)
If you know what you'd like to study, research the dept., visit UNC, and talk to undergraduate majors in that dept. UNC is a top-5 public institution, but like any other large university it differs in quality by dept. I knew I wanted to study philosophy, and I chose UNC largely on that basis (UNC, somewhat surprisingly, has an incredible PHIL dept.). If you plan on studying art, you might consider going elsewhere.
