Major: Economics (This Major's Salary over time)
I am just now starting my second semester here at Wake Forest. I can honestly say I have had the time of my life since coming here last August. First of all, as everyone esle has said, the Greek scene here is huge, but it's not necessary to be in a frat/sorority to have friends or to have fun. I rushed frats last month, but I'm not pledging anywhere right now. Even if you're not interested in becoming a frat brother, please consider rushing - it is an amazing time! Since coming here, I have met some of the coolest people I know. Some people come across as a little arrogant, but that is definitely not the norm. I come from a middle-class family from New England, which is definitely not abnormal here either. If you're worried about being a Northerner in the South, don't worry about it! Besides the occasional talk about "How the Civil War Should Have Been", you'll be fine. The average Wake student is upper middle-class, white, moderate politically (people are saying "Conservative" just because our school is definitely more conservative than other schools), and easy-going. Most people here work hard all week so that they can have an awesome time during the weekends. The workload is heavy, but it is bearable. There is so much opportunity here that I still need to take advantage of, such as study abroad programs, etc. This school is amazing, but it is definitely not for everyone. If you're high strung and not easy-going, I'm pretty sure you won't fit in - then again, where would you? We're the 2nd smallest Division 1 school, which means you will see the basketball team almost daily, and probably get to know a few of them (well). The athletes are mixed in the residence halls with everyone else. ACC basketball games are incredible. My only complaint about Wake is the food. It gets boring quickly. But, if you're a prospective, this is nothing to worry about because the school is completely changing our dining system over the summer of '05. Every student is given an amazing computer during Freshman orientation, and then again at the start of their Junior year. This place is awesome!
